Tickets on sale for George Begg Festival 2025

It’s racing like the good old days – and you can now secure your spot, with tickets on sale for the George Begg Festival 2025.

A must-do on any motorsport fans calendar, the hotly-anticipated retro racing event is set to be held at Invercargill’s Teretonga Park from 10 – 13 April.

First held in 2023, next year’s event is shaping up to be even better, with the multi-day event celebrating all things Italian in 2025.

Hosted by southern tourism hub Transport World, the multi-day festival aims to create a carnival-like atmosphere similar to the Goodwood Revival in the United Kingdom: but with a twist.

The event will take its cues from the 1960s and 1970s, transporting spectators and competitors alike to the golden era of motorsport racing, when Drummond farmer-turned-engineer-turned racecar constructor George Begg built a series of vehicles that bested some of the biggest marques in the world – all from his ‘Toyshop’ in the small Central Southland town.

Event manager Mira Tull says next year’s event is well on track to be the best yet, bringing some of the country’s best drivers south for a fantastic few days of racing.

“You won’t want to miss this. Some of the biggest names in New Zealand motorsport are taking to the track in a variety of classes, along with all of the fantastic events off the track, there is something for everyone at the George Begg Festival.”

There are multiple ticketing options available, for people to pick and choose what suits them, from an all-access three-day pass, for all events on and off the track, through to day passes to just get up and close with the racing action.

For those heading south from further afield, a motorhome package is available, which includes a dedicated berth for self-contained vehicles on the festival outfield, giving exclusive access and flexibility to come and go as needed.

Racing classes announced include Historic Touring Cars, Formula 5000, Historic GT, Historic Formula Atlantic Pacific, HVRA Historic Saloons Sports GT’s, Pre-1978 Classic Saloons, Vintage Racing Car VCC, Modern Touring Cars, Italian Job, The Drummond Dash 30 Minute Enduro and Historic Rally Demo.
